A Visit to Flanders Hydraulics for a Coastal Protection Seminar and Research Collaboration
In a recent visit to Flanders Hydraulics - Waterbouwkundig Laboratorium, our team had the privilege of attending a stimulating Coastal Protection Seminar and engaging in insightful research meetings. Organized in collaboration with esteemed colleagues Peter Troch and Tomohiro Suzuki, the visit proved both enlightening and valuable for advancing our work on coastal engineering.
The visit included a tour of cutting-edge facilities dedicated to wave overtopping and wave-structure interaction (WSI). Among the highlights was the exploration of the Artificial Dike at the Living Lab in Raversijde, a key project focused on studying coastal resilience and protection strategies. These state-of-the-art installations allowed us to witness firsthand the innovative approaches being applied to better understand and mitigate coastal hazards.
The seminar was organized under the framework of the GLORIA project.
