Project objectives
Objective 1: to gain a better understanding of the impact of wave overtopping on flood risks for low-lying urbanized coastal areas, under climate change scenarios.
Objective 2: to validate the focused wave methodology applied to overtopping wave-structure interaction and overtopping floods on the basis of laboratory tests.
Objective 3: to attain an optimized semi-empirical approach by means of parametric optimisation of the focused wave groups applied to wave-structure interaction and individual wave overtopping flow properties.

·WP2. Review of state-of-the-art and characterization of case studies
·WP3. Experimental campaign I: small-scale wave flume CIEMito (centred on validating focused wave generation methodology to evaluate overtopping extreme events)
·WP4. Experimental campaign II: large-scale wave flume CIEM (aiming at correcting scale effects during small wave flume tests)
·WP5. Protocol for coastal safety assessment in experimental facilities (parameterization of experimental results by means of data-mining)
